Anyone who has visited my site recently will almost certainly have noticed that it “doesn’t look quite right”. Unsurprising, really, as it’s currently using a rather nice, but apparently far from perfect, downloaded Theme called “Sylvan“.

AV (Bit)defending a “Bit” Too Well
I’m aware of a problem that users of Bitdefender Free AntiVirus can’t get to the site at present. This appears to be because BitDefender – and only BitDefender – identifies apparently any JavaScript file within the new WordPress v5 installation as being malicious.

An update to the SODE file update post
I said in my post last night that WordPress was being silly about doing an update. Apparently, as part of that silliness, it reverted the changes I made to the IJP Libraries page. Please try again. It seems to be working now. The version you should be getting is titled “IJP_SODE_Simobjects_20180302.zip” – which is, indeed, also a direct link to the file in question.
Apologies for that. Again. #BlameTheComputer
New SODE files uploaded
Along with a new version of WordPress, I’ve uploaded a new version of my SODE SimObjects, which corrects a bunch of errors in the landing direction “T”s that I failed to notice before uploading them before.
Regarding the new version of WP, apologies if it messed up anyone’s visit to the site, but apparently the new version of WordPress doesn’t like auto-updating (and indeed breaks future auto-updates) so it looks like I have another little job to do around here on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the site stopped working properly after failing to auto-update, which is why I had to fix it today, without warning because I couldn’t actually issue a warning before doing so! Hopefully that won’t happen again, but we’ll see.
Button Pressed, World Not Ended.
Well the time finally came when the button had to be pressed and… the site didn’t work. Well, it did, but if you were here between about 11:00 and 13:00 today, then you’d have seen a lot of garbled text and that’s it. The database has now been correctly edited with a judicious kick in the SQL and here we are… Although the Comic Sans will have to go at some point fairly soon.
There are still a couple of problems; primarily that the “Home” button currently doesn’t go ‘home’. Clicking the text at the very top will work to get you back to the front page, until I find the correct menu entry and fix it. I’ll also add some content fairly soon, if for no other reason than just to create a template for what you can expect to see from this point.
Welcome to the new look!
Hello, Good Evening, Welcome…
…to nothing much.
That’s because there’s not a lot here right now to see, because the site is still being set up. Indeed, if you’re reading this, the chances are that it’s because you’ve been sent a link.
Anyway, this is the new version of The Dark Corner. I’ve switched it from Drupal to WordPress because the Drupal installation was becoming impossible to maintain and the new version didn’t want to work. WordPress is much better supported, so hence we’re now here.
I’ll try and copy content over as fast as I can, but right now there aren’t any files, sorry. They’re not gone for good, they will be back… But don’t hold your breath!
