Ticking ‘The List’ off ‘The Other List’

Posted on 15th July 2018 by IanP

Ever since I deleted (with great pleasure) the old Drupal version of this website, I have been lacking “The List”. One List to Rule Them All. The place where I can keep even a slight track of what the flip I’m doing, whether I’ve done it or not and anything else I want to put on there for whatever reason.

Well, it’s back. It’s visible to the public. It’s also longer than I thought it was. You can find it here, or under the “Flight Simulator” drop down menu at the top of the site. Well, that’s one job off The Other List – the things I need to do on the site, rather than The List of airfields. 😉

A Little Detour to Little Walden

A Little Detour to Little Walden

Not content with releasing one scenery today, I’ve also uploaded Little Walden in Essex, which was used by both the 8th and 9th Air Forces, both as a bomber and fighter station. This high usage was in spite of the fact that it was one of the last airfields constructed during the war. It can be found here.

King’s Cliffe: Home of the “Loco Busters”

RAF King’s Cliffe – home to the Lightnings and Mustangs of the 20th Fighter Group’s “Loco Busters” – has been uploaded and released, following a few last minute tweaks and kicks.

Developed from period information, the airfield uses only my own and FSX default objects, although for the vehicles to be visible, you will also need Larry Green’s Hobbs AAF installed. The scenery can be found here.

New uploads for All-in-One Files

Posted on 10th January 201810th January 2018 by IanP

I have finally got around to updating my All-in-One scenery archives again, this time incorporating the SODE files for airfields that use them, within the “All-in-One Scenery” download. Also included are the recently completed sceneries and my Work-in-Progress Little Walden.

The files can be accessed via the top menu of the website, or directly here.

Raydon Redone and Re-uploaded!

Posted on 18th December 2017 by IanP

The airfield that I was due to release before the whole mess with the Contact Form kicked off, RAF Raydon v2 is described as “Raydon Redone” for the simple reason that it has been. Completely, from the ground up, over a scan of a period Aerodrome Reference Plan.

Following a brief period under the auspices of the 9th Air Force, Raydon (Station 157) was passed to the 8th Air Force and the 353rd Fighter Group, who remained there until the end of hostilities in Europe. It’s now available under Flight Simulator / Historical / USAAF on the top bar of the site and includes SODE controlled objects, as well as a simple AI flight plan using the A2A WoP3 P-51D Mustang.

Ian Elliot’s Matching Scenery

Posted on 30th August 2017 by IanP

Not one of mine, this time, but there’s a new scenery now available to download for the WW2 collection: RAF Matching Green (USAAF Station 161) by Ian Elliot.

Home to the 391st Bombardment Group’s B-26 Marauders, a model for which is coming along nicely by Milton Shupe and associates, Ian’s scenery for Matching uses all the libraries available here and can be downloaded from the file library at Sim-Outhouse (free login required).

You can find the discussion thread for Ian’s scenery at the SOH forums here and the B-26 thread can be found here.

What’s Next? Did I stop doing scenery altogether?

Posted on 14th August 2017 by IanP

It’s a question that’s been asked a number of times by people, seeing as it’s been months and or years since I was actively releasing/updating stuff, so this blog post is an attempt to explain where things are and what’s happening with my scenery.

It’s Here: The Map of Almost Everything

Posted on 26th July 2017 by IanP

It’s been promised for a long time. It’s been planned for even longer and there actually was one a while ago, but it vanished into a folder somewhere and never re-appeared… So after a significant amount of kicking, cajoling and deleting the old file that was blocking me seeing it, here’s a whole shiny new Google Earth file showing the locations of almost, but not quite all, of my scenery files in the “All-in-One” download.

A couple of new old pages

Posted on 4th March 2017 by IanP

I’ve finally got around to creating new pages for two existing airfields – one of which had a page on the old site, the other one didn’t and has just been packaged up for the first time on its own. The two pages are RAF Middle Wallop (Historical RAF) and “Al Bardi” Airfield (Historical Luftwaffe, Fictional)

They can be found via the menu at the top of the website.

Yegads, sah! It’s a whole new scenery, what?!

Posted on 27th February 201727th February 2017 by IanP

Here’s something I haven’t done for a while… It’s a whole new scenery at version 1.0!

To go with the release of the new Aeroplane Heaven Hawker Typhoon Mk.Ib, I said I’d give it somewhere to fly from… to which Aeroplane Heaven very graciously supplied me with the model to fly out of it. I’ve actually made two and am working on a third, the first of which is B.7 Advance Landing Ground, at Martragny in Calvedos, France.
