It finally “Tern”ed up…

It finally “Tern”ed up…

…for which people can now be very glad, because it means no more seabird related puns for a while.

Under the new “MSFS Scenery” tab on the top toolbar (or more directly here) you will find a download page and some screenshots for RNAS Twatt, where I have given up tinkering and poking and decided to set it loose on an unsuspecting world.

I’ve also uploaded it to flightsim.to, but whether they’ll approve it or not, I cannot say, with that name attached!

Enjoy, ignore, be sarcastic about and/or tell your friends about, as you will.

In association with this release, the scenery libraries page now also has links to the MSFS libraries required to see and use Twatt properly, but that’s still under the FSX/P3D tab at present. I shall sort that out as soon as I have more time.

Tern, Tern Again…

Posted on 22nd May 202322nd May 2023 by IanP

Finished? No. Not quite . Quite a lot of it still needs poking, prodding and generally tweaking, but it’s reached a point where I think it’s worth letting other people who might be interested have a poke at it themselves again, as well.

“Wot I Did On My Oliday”

“Wot I Did On My Oliday”

Or, “That moment you pick something up and decide to model it, then don’t stop”. Or something. Then you get depressed for absolutely no apparent reason.

Quick update

Posted on 17th January 202117th January 2021 by IanP

Right. My mental health is really not coping well with the current situation – the last few days have been completely messed up between that and my knackered back so absolutely nothing has been done.

Thanks to watching too many Dreamsofwings videos, this evening, though, a bit of light has crept into my brain cells and little bit of progress has been made. Not much, but it’s a heck of a lot more than recent weeks!

Ah… Blutions!

Posted on 5th December 2020 by IanP

I nearly entitled this blog entry “Battle of the Bogs”, but it wouldn’t be entirely accurate, as the problem I’m having right now isn’t the lavatories – I’ve got them (everywhere…) – it’s the washing, brushing and showering bits – in military parlance, the “ablutions”.

A Very Quick HG Update

Posted on 27th October 2020 by IanP

Things aren’t quite as bad as I feared with my never-ending rendition of the 1940s RAF Halfpenny Green (EGBO).

I’ve managed to resurrect the “master” Blender file, which had all but 89 buildings on it. That sounds a lot, but out of 269, it means that 180 were there. Every single material and texture in the master was broken, but a few hours later, that’s both fixed and rather improved, with one single material now applied to any building that uses a common texture sheet.

The missing building count is now down 26, to 63. Some of those are modelled, it’s just that they’re not on the “master” yet. About a dozen of them I have no idea what they looked like anyway, so educated guesswork is required for those.

If anyone is reading this… Send tea and chocolate. I need it!

3rd Time Lucky?

Posted on 18th October 2020 by IanP

I guess, with one scenery pretty much done and another one on the back burner simmering away and awaiting some custom models, I should ask the question again…

…does anyone even care whether I do them or not any more and, if so, for which sim should they be compiled? 😉

It’s all Hunsdon’s Fault!

Posted on 14th March 201914th March 2019 by IanP

Yep, I finally pushed the “Update” button this morning and the All in One downloads are finally up to date.

Yes. It’s been well over a year this time, but good grief is there a lot in there that wasn’t before.

The Bedford QLs and Morris trucks are in, the gun posts are in, the new hangars are in, there are goodness knows how many new ‘small buildings’ and Nissen huts and Nissen combos and… oh, yeah, there’s one absolutely tiny hut, the TB “Balloon Filling Hut”, an aerial… At least I think the aerial is in there. If it isn’t, it’ll be in an update, hopefully less than a year away. What else? Well, Hunsdon, for starters, in the IJP Scenery folder. It’s not complete, I haven’t done any trucks, anywhere near enough clutter or much else yet, but if you want a place to start to see a lot of what’s been added to the scenery libraries, X2HU is a pretty good place to start. Try not to crash while you’re laughing at the AA machine gunner models.

Oh, one last thing… I added the surface elements of a Battle HQ this morning (for Flippin’ Hunsdon again…) – it’s in the new “Defences” library. I’m open to suggestions as to how to improve this, as I don’t think it looks particularly good, personally. I’m not sure how I can make it look any better, though.

Download links can be found on the “All-in-One” page, here.

Getting me angry…

Posted on 7th February 20197th February 2019 by IanP

… is, apparently, great for productivity. Even if I can’t give out any of the results just yet.

Last post, I showed images of a way-over-poly-budget Bedford QL and a slightly mysterious airfield which, if you zoomed in enough, you might have seen was RAF Hunsdon, from where Operation Jericho was launched. Things have moved on since then.

Elvington version 2

Posted on 8th August 2018 by IanP

I’ve finally got around to uploading RAF Elvington version 2.0 for FSX to the server. It’s been done for a couple of weeks, but I have a number of issues going on with my health at the moment, so it’s taken me way too long to get around to actually packaging and uploading it. It’s now available here, supported by a new release of my scenery objects, which can be found either via the link on the Elvington page, or the top menu bar. I’ll try and get the All in One files updated as soon as possible, to include the new files.
